Name: Eris
Age: Unknown... Looks to be in early thirties
Species: Goddess (realm is discord and chaos)
Place of Origin (what movie or story did they come from?): Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas
Appearance: Eris has long dark hair, that is constantly moving in a non-existing breeze. Her eyes are yellow, save for the irises, which are blood red. Her skin color changes, depending on the mood she's in and what she feels like. Usually it's a light blue, but she has been known to take on the skin tone of mortals as well.
Personality: More than anything, Eris loves to cause strife and chaos among mortals. She is feared by most, and for good reason. It was because of Eris that the Trojan War started, and during that time, she spent time with Ares, the god of war, relishing in the sight of hundreds of dead mortals, and those that were still clinging to life even as the Fates prepared to sever their thread of life.
She is prone to rash anger and jealousy, and those who cause it will pay the dearest cost.
History: One of Zeus and Hera's many children, the only one Eris really got along with was Ares. She was always was a deity who mortals feared and would rather not come across. As such, she was not invited to the wedding of Peleus and Thetis. She turned up anyway, and was still denied entry. Angry at this display of disrespect, Eris tossed a golden apple in the crowd. She said it was to go to the fairest, and Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite all laid claim to it.
Eris was there along with Themis to watch the judgment of the mortal Paris. Hera had promised to make him king, Athena promised him victory in any war he fought, but Aphrodite had promised her the hand of Helen, the most beautiful mortal in all the lands. Eris smirked as Paris judged Aphrodite the fairest and gave the golden apple to her. What they didn't know, however, was Paris's choice in claiming a Spartan queen as his wife would lead to one of the greatest wars the world had known.
Some time later, Eris turned her attention to Sinbad, a pirate who she'd initially thought to be one with a black heart, and who cared only about himself. Unfortunately, he showed that there were people he cared enough about to do the right thing. Eris was annoyed at this, but rather than crying over spilled milk, she set out to find someone who would be fit to serve her.
Strengths/Abilities: Immortal, teleportation, can grow or shrink in size, shapeshifter
Weaknesses/Flaws: Underestimates the good in people.
Likes: The suffering of mortals, causing discord and chaos
Dislikes: Good people, a majority of the other gods and goddesses
Fears: Good triumphing over evil and thereby making her realm useless
RP Sample: <Old plot I'd written not long after MJ died>
Eris had left her realm of Tartarus to visit a small mortal town filled with superstitions and fear. Accusations were made on a daily basis, calling random people witches, and burning them alive for their 'unholy crimes'. Such acts intrigued her. It would be so easy to use them to her advantage. But who should she use?
Remaining cloaked in the shadows, Eris' red eyes searched out the town's people, searching for her perfect victim. Her eyes widened as she noticed the exact canidate. A young woman, barely out of her teens, living alone and filled with hopes and dreams of finding a husband and raising a family.
Eris waited until the town was nearly asleep before springing her plan into action. Forming a copy of the girl out of clay and slipping into the body, Eris took on the form of the maiden, and stood in the town square. Her voice suddenly boomed, waking the locals as they hurried to their windows.
Darkness Falls Across The Land
The Midnight Hour Is Close At Hand
Creatures Crawl In Search Of Blood
To Terrorize Y’all’s Neighbourhood
And Whosoever Shall Be Found
Without The Soul For Getting Down
Must Stand And Face The Hounds Of Hell
And Rot Inside A Corpse’s Shell
The Foulest Stench Is In The Air
The Funk Of Forty Thousand Years
And Grizzy Ghouls From Every Tomb
Are Closing In To Seal Your Doom
And Though You Fight To Stay Alive
Your Body Starts To Shiver
For No Mere Mortal Can Resist
The Evil Of The Thriller
At the end of her spell, Eris vanished in a cloud of smoke, leaving no trace of herself or her puppet. She returned to the shadows, watching the outcome of her most recent game of 'Pretend'. An angry mob, armed with the traditional torch and pitchforks, were currently dragging the innocent girl to the town square, calling her a witch, and demanding that she undo whatever spell she had cast. Of course, she could not, and they bound her to a stake and set their flames to her body.
"Oh dear." Eris said in mock sorrow. "Such a pity."
Her cruel laughter echoed through the night as yet another mortal soul made it's way to the Underworld.
